Death by Comfort: How modern life is killing us and what we can do about it - Paul Taylor 2022 - $2
SYNOPSIS: Our genome has not changed in over 45,000 years, but the world has changed enormously and there are multiple mismatches with modern life. Homo sapiens evolved and thrived because we hunted down prey with the tools we made, ate a range of natural foods from the environment and led highly physical lives necessary for the proper functioning of our bodies and brains. Now, most of us spend most of our day sitting on our backsides, and more than 50% of our diet is made up of ultra-processed foods that hijack our brains' rewards systems while making us overweight and sick. Exposure to cold and heat caused our ancestors to upregulate critical stress response genes, which made us more resilient. Now, our thermoneutral environments are making us soft. We used to live in small tribal communities where everyone had a role and purpose. Now we are digitally connected and physically disconnected. Modern humans are the most overweight, depressed, medicated and addicted cohort of adults that has ever lived, yet life has never been so good! Backed by powerful research, Death by Comfort explores exactly what's wrong and what we need to do in order to survive and thrive in the modern world. BUY NOW

Some things you might find useful
Find your ENERGY in the morning
You do need to open those peepers, stretch that body and get out of bed when you are awake.. Get joy in the day and excited about what is ahead OR Fake it till you make it. I had a friend who was not a morning fan, had struggled out of bed everyday until she made a deal to exercise with me in the morning for a trial period - now she wakes up earlier than me! No secret here - just force yourself up, create a new habit over a few weeks, You wont look back when the choice is better for your well-being. This does not mean that you cant lavish in a sleep in occasionally!
ENJOY your good food and prepare with love not haste
Fuel yourself in the morning with love. Prepare your first meal to clear your system and activate your energy. Everyone is different, and some start the day lighter than others. I know I feel amazing with a clearing lemon juice and warm water, followed by something with protein and fibre mix. I also love a bowl of porridge with fresh berries, grated apple, walnuts, maple and cinnamon!
Activate your vibe with a gratefulness review
II learn years ago to have a "grateful check " each day - so I have a list of questions laminated and stuck in my shower .... that is right, IN my shower. About 10 questions asking things like - What can I do to make a difference to someone else ..... even just text them to say hi, write a letter, give to a charity.
Review your day and any pre-made plans
Check your diary, see where you have to be, acknowledge your priorities - all before looking at your mail and inbox. Set your path ...... adjust as necessary. Be agile when needed
Exercise your lungs and heart, and your muscular system
Breath! At least 10 good deep breaths ..... it activates to much and switches you on with oxygen. In for 6 seconds, hold for 4 and out again for 6 - repeat!.
